Your financial support goes a long way in Kenya, no matter what amount you can give.
$25 helps us put a student desk or bookshelf in a classroom, or stock the shelves with four classroom reference books.
$50 adds 10 insecticidal bed nets for the students’ dormitory, or adds 10 picture books to our community library and literacy program.
$100 provides for much needed equipment to our science and music programs, like a battery powered microscope or reconditioning a donated string instrument.
$500 equips five classrooms with screened windows with fire safety latches to create a safer environment for learning, or ….. (no local schools currently have screens or safe, relockable windows).
A monthly recurring gift of $20 - $100 will help us … or will sponsor a student… will sponsor a classroom…

Volunteer
Volunteers are needed both on an ongoing and occasional basis.
SHOW & TELL — We are happy to present the Simbolei story to your school, church, synagogue or civic group. We can prepare a presentation about Kenyan education and our project that is appropriate for your group’s age and interests.
HOST AN EVENT — We host fundraising and education events to help fund construction of Simbolei Academy, the Simbolei Community Library and Summer Literacy Outreach. Events include cookbook sales, concerts and Kenyan dinners. If you would like to host an event or volunteer to help with an event, contact us for details.
EDUCATORS — If you are a teacher, librarian educator, or curriculum design specialist, we need you!
During 2020, we focused on planning curriculum and library programming for Simbolei Academy. In 2021, and beyond, we are interested in volunteers who can work remotely from the US or Kenya and also in people who are interested in working in Kenya short or medium term. Materials & Supplies
SCHOOL SUPPLIES — We need new supplies of all types including pencils, notebooks, markers, crayons and chalk. We can accept new or used calculators in good condition.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS — We are developing a Simbolei school chamber orchestra. We need donations of violins, violas, and/or cellos. We can usually arrange minor repairs. Contact us for specifics if you would consider donating a musical instrument.
BOOKS — If you or your group would like to donate new or gently used books for our Simbolei library, please contact us for details. We need educational, leisure, and general interest reading for children and adults. Consider donating picture books, young adult novels, or non-fiction that help children and adults learn and explore.
